PM Modi Pledges Prambanan Restoration Completion Before 2029, Plans Grand Festival

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pledged that the conservation and restoration project for the Prambanan Temple will be completed before 2029. Modi stated he would personally return to inaugurate the site and celebrate the occasion with a festival. The commitment was made during a ceremony at the Prambanan Temple courtyard in Sleman, Yogyakarta, on Wednesday. Modi initially praised President Prabowo Subianto for his meticulous planning regarding the restoration project. “Today, I want to say that President Prabowo, coming from a military background, knows how to plan things meticulously,” Modi said. “So, when he planned this restoration, there was a clear strategy, and with that planning, I am confident the work will be completed ahead of schedule.” With such thorough planning, Modi expressed confidence that the project would be finished faster than anticipated. He set a target for completion before 2029. “And today, my friend President Prabowo also made me promise him that we will complete this work before 2029,” he stated. Modi announced he would visit Indonesia again once the restoration is finished, marking the event with a festival. “I must make a return visit to Indonesia to inaugurate this temple complex after the restoration is complete,” he said. “And in front of all of you, allow me to reaffirm my promise. With our joint efforts, we will complete this work before 2029, and together we will celebrate this restoration and inauguration as a grand festival.”
