PM Hun Sen to visit RI next week

PHNOM PENH (AFP): Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Sen will next week pay an official visit to Indonesia to seal an agreement on the "Promotion and Protection of Investment in Cambodia," a statement said Friday.

During the March 15-17 visit, Hun Sen's first to Indonesia, he will hold bilateral talks with President B.J Habibie, before lobbying for increased business cooperation.

Since his appointment as prime minister following last November's coalition deal, Hun Sen has traveled to China, Japan, Malaysia and Vietnam to lobby for financial support.

Investor confidence hit a major low point after July 1997, when at the outset of the Asian economic crisis Cambodia was also ravaged by factional fighting between Hun Sen and then co-premier Prince Norodom Ranariddh.
