PM Banharn visits Vietnam
HANOI (Reuter): Thai Prime Minister Banharn Silpa-archa, on
his first overseas trip as premier, held talks in Hanoi yesterday
with his Vietnamese counterpart, Vo Van Kiet.
He arrived three hours late from the Philippines for a
scheduled six-hour visit, and was due to attend a ground-breaking
ceremony for a joint-venture hotel and make courtesy calls on
Communist Party General Secretary Do Muoi and state President Le
Duc Anh before heading for Bangkok.
At a welcoming ceremony, Kiet said Banharn's visit was a good
chance to discuss issues facing the Association of Southeast
Asian Nations, of which both are members.
