PM: Australia secures additional diesel fuel supply
Sydney (ANTARA) - Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced on Wednesday that his government has secured additional diesel fuel shipments. Speaking to the media in Sydney, Albanese stated that four shipments—two from South Korea and one each from Brunei and Malaysia, totalling 200 million litres of diesel—have been guaranteed by the government in cooperation with BP and Viva Energy. He added that the government has been working to ensure Australia’s domestic fuel supply amid global uncertainties and that Australia will continue to advocate for de-escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. Speaking alongside Albanese, Energy Minister Chris Bowen said that the diesel shipments will arrive in Australia by the end of May or early June and will serve as an additional reserve for national stocks. Albanese will meet with leaders of Australian states and territories on Thursday (23/4) to discuss fuel supply security for the third time since the Middle East conflict erupted.
