PM Anutin's First Indonesia Visit: Strategic Partnership Roadmap to be Announced
A state welcoming ceremony for the visit of Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul was held at the Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta on Monday (3/8/2026). The motorcade carrying PM Anutin arrived in the Monas area accompanied by a mounted and motorcycle escort.
Upon arrival at the palace, PM Anutin was greeted by schoolchildren waving Indonesian and Thai flags. President Prabowo, wearing a grey suit and a black cap, welcomed PM Anutin on the west side of the Merdeka Palace. The two leaders shook hands as PM Anutin stepped out of his black Mercedes-Benz, chatting briefly and watching a classical Jaipongan dance from West Java.
Following the handshake, the two leaders proceeded with the state welcoming ceremony. The national anthems of both countries were played, accompanied by a cannon salute. They then conducted an inspection of the troops. Afterwards, President Prabowo and PM Anutin introduced their respective delegations. They then entered the Credential Room for a photo session and to sign the guest book, before moving to the working room for a tête-à-tête meeting.
Accompanying President Prabowo at the meeting were Foreign Minister Sugiono, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, and Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin. Also present were Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti, Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Supervisory Board/COO of Danantara Dony Oskaria, Army Chief of Staff General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
This marks PM Anutin’s inaugural visit to Indonesia. Discussions are set to cover bilateral cooperation in security, combating transnational crime, trade, investment, food and energy security, people-to-people relations, and regional cooperation within ASEAN. The two leaders will also announce a Strategic Partnership Roadmap for 2026-2030.
