PLN's TJSL Programme Benefits 17,000 West Java Residents in First Half of 2026

Throughout the first half of 2026, PT PLN (Persero) Unit Induk Distribusi (UID) West Java has continued to deliver benefits to the community through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programme. The programme has provided benefits to 17,554 people across various regions of West Java. Support was provided in the sectors of education, economic empowerment, the environment, and improving community welfare. Beneficiaries are spread across various areas, from Bandung, Depok, Sukabumi, Purwakarta, Kuningan, to Pangandaran. Each programme is designed based on the needs of the local community, ranging from improving educational facilities and strengthening the capacity of community groups to empowering vulnerable groups to become more independent and productive. General Manager of PLN UID West Java, Muhammad Joharifin, stated that the TJSL programme is not only oriented towards providing aid but is also designed to create sustainable benefits for the community. ‘Through the TJSL programme, PLN is present to provide tangible benefits to the community. Each assistance is designed based on the recipients’ needs to have a long-term impact, whether in improving access to education, strengthening economic independence, or supporting community groups that require more attention,’ he asserted. This commitment is realised through various programmes that touch on community needs across multiple sectors. In the field of education, for example, assistance was provided through multimedia equipment for SMPIT Al Bina Purwakarta and computer laboratory equipment in Kuningan Regency. This support is expected to expand access to technology-based learning while supporting the improvement of the quality of the teaching and learning process for students. PLN UID West Java also continues to encourage community empowerment so that they can grow more independent and productive. One such initiative is the PowerAble (Empowering Disable) by PLN Peduli programme with the Kreasi Pulas Katumbiri Foundation, which provides support to people with disabilities to develop skills, create, and increase economic independence. In the environmental sector, initiatives include The New Factory: Scale Up Textile Waste Recycling Innovation programme for the The New Factory Garment Workers Cooperative in Bandung. This programme encourages the utilisation of textile waste into value-added products while opening new economic opportunities for the communities involved. All these initiatives are part of PLN’s commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In the first half of 2026, the TJSL programme of PLN UID West Java contributed to six SDGs: No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Quality Education, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Sustainable Cities and Communities, and Responsible Consumption and Production. Joharifin added that the success of the TJSL programme is measured not only by the aid distributed but by the positive changes directly felt by the beneficiaries. ‘We hope that the various programmes that have been implemented can be a trigger for the community to continue to develop and create added value. Collaboration between PLN, the government, communities, and the public is key to ensuring that the benefits of the programme can be felt more widely and sustainably,’ he added. Going forward, PLN UID West Java is committed to continuing to deliver targeted and sustainable TJSL programmes so that the benefits can be felt more widely by the community. Through collaboration with various stakeholders, PLN will continue to strengthen its role as a company that not only provides electricity services but also contributes to driving social, economic, and environmental development in West Java.
