PLN's SPKLU Transactions Reach All-Time High of 18,088 on H+2 Eid al-Fitr 1447 H
PT PLN (Persero) has recorded the highest daily transaction for the use of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) in history. This achievement occurred on Monday (23/3/2026), which was also the mudik period or H+2 Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, with the number of electric vehicle (EV) charging transactions reaching 18,088 and energy consumption at 427,980 kilowatt hours (kWh). Both indicators increased 4.15 times compared to the same period last year, which was 4,360 transactions and 103,010 kWh. During his visit to the SPKLU at Rest Area KM 519B, Sragen, Central Java, on Thursday (26/3/2026), the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, assessed that the rising transactions indicate the increasingly developing use of electric vehicles. According to him, this development is also supported by the acceleration of SPKLU infrastructure construction in various regions. “Compared to last year, it’s not as massive as now. This happened because the electric car industry wasn’t as good as it is now. But it’s impossible for there to be many electric cars if we don’t build the SPKLU infrastructure,” Bahlil stated. PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that the high daily transactions reflect the continuously increasing public trust in the reliability of the electric vehicle infrastructure provided by PLN along with its partners, especially during Eid al-Fitr mudik. “More than just numbers, this achievement shows the SPKLU development strategy in terms of quantity, technology, and digital service integration, driving increased public trust in using electric vehicles, including for long-distance trips,” said Darmawan, quoted on Sunday (29/3/2026). In line with the growth of EV adoption in the country, PLN along with its partners has provided 4,769 SPKLU units spread across 3,097 locations throughout Indonesia, with an average distance between SPKLU of about 22 kilometres. Specifically on the main mudik routes of Trans Sumatra, Java, and Bali, there are 1,681 SPKLU units at 994 points, both on toll and non-toll roads, an increase of around 70 percent compared to the previous Eid al-Fitr. “We also prepared 15 mobile SPKLU units at strategic toll exit points to anticipate EV users who need emergency charging. Thousands of personnel were also deployed to support the smooth operation of SPKLU during the alert period,” Darmawan added. In addition to infrastructure additions, PLN is improving service quality through charging technology modernisation. Several SPKLU with high occupancy rates have been upgraded from standard charging to fast charging and even ultra-fast charging to speed up the charging process. “These service quality improvement efforts are also accompanied by strengthening the digital service ecosystem through the Electric Vehicle Digital Services (EVDS) feature in the PLN Mobile app,” he said. PLN continues to pamper EV users through digital services in the PLN Mobile app, such as the Trip Planner feature that helps users plan travel routes with information on SPKLU locations along the route, including connector availability, and the AntreEV feature that allows real-time monitoring of charging queues. “We are also continuously improving transaction convenience through the development of EV-TAP, which uses electronic card-based payments at several SPKLU on the Trans Java mudik route, making the charging process faster and more practical,” Darmawan concluded.
