PLN's Explanation Regarding Power Outage in Jakarta This Afternoon
Several areas in Jakarta experienced another power outage on Thursday, 23 April 2026, from 10:25 WIB until around 13:00 WIB. This is the second incident in the same month, following a similar outage on 9 April 2026.
The disruption affected parts of North Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and South Jakarta, with residents voicing complaints on social media platform X. PT PLN (Persero) stated that the outage was triggered by a disruption in electricity supply.
“PLN is currently carrying out repair activities on a power plant that require operational adjustments or load management in parts of Jakarta,” PLN wrote.
Senior Manager of Communication and Public Relations for PLN’s Jakarta Raya Distribution Main Unit, Haris Andika, said that recovery efforts have been underway since the disruption began, both through control systems and direct on-site handling. “Our technical teams are currently conducting intensive handling to restore the entire electrical system,” he said in a written statement.
According to Haris, the handling process is being carried out in parallel with tracing the source of the disruption. PLN also urged the public to remain calm and not be influenced by unverified information. Updates on the recovery will be provided periodically through the PLN Mobile application and the PLN call centre at 123.
In the transportation sector, PT KAI Commuter assured that KRL operations are running normally. “Commuter line operations are not disrupted by the power outage,” said KAI Commuter Public Relations Manager Leza Arlan, as quoted by Antara.
Nevertheless, the outage impacted traffic lights at several points, causing vehicle congestion. The TMC of Polda Metro Jaya stated that officers have been deployed to manage traffic flow.
Previously, a power outage also occurred in several areas of Jakarta on the evening of Thursday, 9 April 2026. That disruption even affected transportation operations, including Jakarta MRT services which experienced issues due to the electricity supply from PLN.
