PLN Yogyakarta's Zakat Programme Provides Free Circumcision for 51 Children

A total of 51 children participated in the ‘Khitan Sehat Anak Soleh’ (Healthy Circumcision for Pious Children) programme organised by Yayasan Baitul Maal (YBM) of PT PLN (Persero) Unit Induk Distribusi (UID) Yogyakarta at the RH Medika Main Clinic in Sleman. The event was held as part of the Muharram Berkah 1448 Hijriyah thematic programme. Among the participants was 12-year-old Rofi Hatta Al Fajri Pracoyo, accompanied by his father, Dwi Pracoyo, a 60-year-old cleaner at a mosque in Bantul. Dwi expressed deep gratitude, stating that the free circumcision programme was a significant help for his family given their limited income. He noted that his son did not complain of pain and instead enjoyed the facilities, including a game console provided by the clinic to ease the children’s tension. Another parent, Septian, a baker from Bantul, brought his six-and-a-half-year-old son Naka, who had asked to be circumcised during the school holidays. Septian praised the cheerful and comfortable atmosphere of the event. General Manager of PLN UID Yogyakarta, Deri Prasetio Utomo, stated that the programme is a tangible manifestation of the zakat, infak, and sedekah funds collected from PLN employees, aimed at easing the burden on the community and supporting children’s development. The clinic’s director, Rahmat Heriono, emphasised that healthcare should be accessible to all levels of society and expressed pride in the partnership. The initiative transformed employee donations into a meaningful act of social solidarity, providing health benefits and happiness to families in need during the Islamic New Year.
