A PLN worker died while repairing the electricity network in Pohgading Village, Pringgabaya District, East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) this afternoon. The victim is believed to have been electrocuted whilst carrying out repairs on a cable that had been experiencing faults.

The incident occurred around 2.30 p.m. local time. At the time, the victim and several other workers had climbed an electricity pole to repair the network, which had been problematic since the morning.

“We saw the victim still holding the cable up there for about 15 minutes before he could let go. The incident happened around half past two, just before Asr prayer time,” said a local resident, Juniadi, on Monday (15/6/2026).

Juniadi recounted that the victim’s colleagues attempted to provide assistance. However, the victim was unable to release his hand from the cable he was holding.

“Three of the victim’s friends tried to help, but the victim’s hand could not let go of the cable. It seems he had already passed away whilst still up there, because his hand released the cable on its own,” Juniadi explained.

Afterwards, the victim was lowered using a rope in a limp condition. He was then immediately rushed to the nearest community health centre for treatment.

“He was lowered directly using a rope and immediately taken to the Puskesmas,” he added.

As of now, the victim’s identity remains unknown. The police have also not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.
