PLN won't totally shut down supply

JAKARTA: State-owned electricity company PT PLN's Business
Distribution Unit, overseeing Jakarta and Tangerang, will not
totally shut down its energy supply to the two areas in the wake
of the massive floods in the last few days.

The unit's spokesman, Riyo Supriyanto, said on Thursday that,
for reasons of public safety, PLN would only switch off its
supply to inundated generators that were technically unable to
operate. Some residents living in flooded neighbourhoods asked
PLN to shut down the supply to prevent electrocutions. -- JP
