PT PLN (Persero) has received the BUMN Peduli Energi Terbarukan (State-Owned Enterprise Caring for Renewable Energy) award at the Jogja Brand and Business Awards (JBBA) 2026, held at the Kasultanan Ballroom, Hotel Royal Ambarrukmo, Yogyakarta. The event, themed ‘Smartly Cultured, Sustainably Driven’, used the Javanese philosophy of Hamemayu Hayuning Bawana as the basis for its assessment, encouraging business practices that balance economic growth with social, cultural, and environmental preservation. The award acknowledges PLN’s commitment to accelerating the energy transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable future. The company has implemented various initiatives as part of the national electricity sector transformation, including the development of New Renewable Energy (EBT) power plants such as solar, hydro, and geothermal, as well as co-firing biomass programmes at thermal power plants. PLN has also been building green transmission lines to strengthen the distribution of electricity from clean energy sources. Beyond generation, PLN is accelerating the electric vehicle ecosystem by expanding the availability of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) in strategic locations. Deri Prasetio Utomo, General Manager of PLN UID Yogyakarta, stated that the award serves as a mandate and motivation for the company to continue innovating in providing reliable and environmentally friendly electricity services. He added that PLN UID Yogyakarta will strengthen collaboration with local governments, businesses, academics, and the community to accelerate the use of clean energy in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. PLN believes that synergy among all stakeholders is essential to achieving sustainable development targets and supporting the government’s commitment to reaching Net Zero Emissions in Indonesia.
