PLN West Java Achieves Zero Workplace Accidents in First Half of 2026, Strengthens Safety Culture
A number of companies continue to strengthen the culture of workplace safety within their organisations. PT PLN (Persero) West Java Main Distribution Unit (UID) is undertaking the same effort.
The result is that throughout the first half of 2026, the company recorded zero workplace accidents (Zero Accident). This achievement reflects the consistency of PLN UID West Java in strengthening its workplace safety culture. The effort is carried out through the implementation of Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) standards across all operational lines.
“Safety culture is an inseparable part of every work process at PLN UID West Java. Through the disciplined application of safety standards and comprehensive risk control, the company continues to build a safe working environment for all workers, both employees and work partners,” said PLN West Java General Manager Muhammad Joharifin on Monday (13 July).
This commitment is realised through various ongoing programmes, including safety briefings before work begins, the implementation of the Contractor Safety Management System (CSMS), Safety Alignment, Safety Committees, hazard identification, risk assessment and control (IBPPR), and the strengthening of an integrated HSSE management system.
In addition, PLN UID West Java routinely conducts employee health checks, safety training and education, evaluations of occupational health and safety implementation across all work units, as well as monitoring and reporting as part of continuous improvement.
For this achievement, PLN UID West Java received recognition in the form of the Zero Accident Award for the First half of 2026 from the Distribution Director of PT PLN (Persero), Arsyadany Ghana Akmalaputri. The award was presented on Thursday (9 July) and received directly by the General Manager of PLN UID West Java, Muhammad Joharifin.
NOT THE FINAL GOAL
Furthermore, Joharifin said the Zero Accident achievement is not merely a performance indicator, but the result of a safety culture that is continuously built and consistently practised by everyone in the company.
“Zero Accident is not the final goal, but rather the result of the discipline, care and commitment of everyone at PLN UID West Java in embedding workplace safety as a culture. Every job must begin by ensuring all potential risks have been identified and controlled. That way, officers can work safely and the public continues to receive optimal electricity services,” he said.
He added that success in building a safety culture can only be achieved if every individual in the company has the courage to remind one another, to care for one another, and to intervene when they see potential hazards.
Safety, he said, must not be viewed as an administrative obligation or merely fulfilling procedures. Safety is a moral responsibility of every worker.
“When we work safely, we are not only protecting ourselves, but also safeguarding the families waiting for us to come home. Therefore, a culture of compliance, care and responsiveness must continue to be part of the mindset and behaviour of everyone at PLN UID West Java,” Joharifin asserted.
PLN UID West Java will continue to strengthen the consistent implementation of the HSSE culture across all business processes so that every job can be carried out safely and professionally, with safety as the company’s foremost value.
