A number of companies continue to strive to strengthen the culture of workplace safety within their environments. The same effort is being undertaken by PT PLN (Persero) Unit Induk Distribusi (UID) West Java. As a result, throughout the first semester of 2026, the company recorded zero workplace accidents (Zero Accident). This achievement is a manifestation of PLN UID West Java’s consistency in strengthening the culture of workplace safety. The effort was carried out through the implementation of Occupational Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (K3L and Kam) or Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) across all operational lines. “Safety culture is an inseparable part of every work process at PLN UID West Java. Through the disciplined application of safety standards and comprehensive risk control, the company continues to build a safe working environment for all workers, both employees and partner workers,” said General Manager of PLN West Java Muhammad Joharifin on Monday (13/7). This commitment is realised through various ongoing programmes, including safety briefings before work begins, implementation of the Contractor Safety Management System (CSMS), Safety Alignment, Safety Committee, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Control (IBPPR), and strengthening of the integrated HSSE management system. In addition, PLN UID West Java also routinely conducts employee health checks, safety training and education, evaluation of K3 implementation in all work units, as well as monitoring and reporting as part of the continuous improvement process. For this achievement, PLN UID West Java received an award for Zero Accidents in the First Semester of 2026 from the Distribution Director of PT PLN (Persero), Arsyadany Ghana Akmalaputri. The award was presented on Thursday (9/7) and received directly by the General Manager of PLN UID West Java, Muhammad Joharifin. Joharifin further stated that the Zero Accident achievement is not merely a performance indicator, but the result of a safety culture that is continuously built and consistently practised by all company personnel. “Zero Accident is not the final goal, but rather the result of the discipline, care, and commitment of all PLN UID West Java personnel in cultivating workplace safety. Every job must begin by ensuring that all potential risks are identified and controlled. That way, officers can work safely and the public continues to receive optimal electricity services,” he said. He added that building a successful safety culture can only be realised if every individual within the company has the courage to remind one another, care for each other, and intervene when potential hazards are observed. Safety, he noted, should not be viewed as an administrative obligation or merely a procedural requirement; it is a moral responsibility of every worker. “When we work safely, we are not only protecting ourselves but also safeguarding the families waiting for us at home. Therefore, a culture of compliance, care, and responsiveness must continue to be part of the mindset and behaviour of all PLN UID West Java personnel,” Joharifin stressed. PLN UID West Java will continue to consistently strengthen the implementation of HSSE culture across all business processes so that every job can be carried out safely, professionally, and with safety as the company’s core value.
