PLN Urges Checking 4 Security Points for Electrical Installations Before Buying or Renting a House

PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) Persero is urging the public to be more diligent in checking electrical installations before renting or buying a house.

“Besides paying attention to the building’s condition, the public also needs to ensure that the house’s electrical installation is safe, legal, and meets standards. This is important to protect occupants from the risks of electrical disturbances or hazards,” explained General Manager of PLN’s Distribution Unit for South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi (UID Sulselrabar) Edyansyah, quoted from Antara on Friday (8/5/2026).

This is because potential losses lurk if these aspects are not fulfilled.

“The use of electrical installations that do not meet standards or illegal connections can endanger the house’s occupants and potentially cause losses,” he clarified.

“Through PLN Mobile, the public can more easily verify the status of the electricity service for the house they intend to buy or rent. We hope the public becomes increasingly aware of the importance of electrical installation safety and legality,” Edyansyah stated.

“Applying for a new electricity connection is an important stage after the building is physically completed. Through PLN Mobile, the public can submit official applications for electricity connections in a practical manner that can be monitored,” he said, quoted from Kompas.com on Thursday (22/1/2026).

“By applying for electricity connections through PLN’s official PLN Mobile channel, customers are also protected from risks of inaccurate information, costs outside the regulations, or intermediary practices that could be detrimental,” he added.
