PLN UID Sulselrabar Strengthens Kendari Caddi MSME Competitiveness Through TJSL Programme

PT PLN (Persero) Unit Induk Distribusi Sulawesi Selatan, Sulawesi Tenggara dan Sulawesi Barat (UID Sulselrabar) is strengthening the competitiveness of micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) operators in Kendari Caddi, Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi, through business training and mentoring. The training for MSME players is part of PLN UID Sulselrabar’s commitment to promoting community economic empowerment through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programme. General Manager of PLN UID Sulselrabar Edyansyah stated that the TJSL programme represents the company’s commitment to delivering benefits directly felt by the community, particularly in strengthening economic independence through MSME empowerment. He noted that PLN not only provides reliable electricity services but is also committed to making a tangible contribution to improving community welfare. Collaborating with the Kendari City Government and the BASKETA Youth Organisation of Kendari Caddi Village, PLN launched the programme ‘Kendari Caddi Bangkit Berdaya Bersama Menuju Indonesia Maju’ as an effort to enhance the capacity and competitiveness of MSME players. As a concrete form of support for community business development, PLN also handed over main production machinery assistance to fostered MSMEs to increase production capacity, operational efficiency and product quality so they can compete in an increasingly competitive market. A total of 40 MSME players from various business sectors in Kendari Caddi received training on business digitalisation, business management, marketing strategy, branding, product packaging and business legality. Edyansyah expressed hope that the programme would produce more independent MSMEs capable of expanding their markets, creating new job opportunities and becoming drivers of economic growth in Kendari City. One participant, 28-year-old culinary MSME operator Diana Novita, said she gained many benefits from the activity, including applicable materials on business management and development, as well as the opportunity to exchange experiences with MSME players from other sectors. Diana also acknowledged that the production machinery assistance provided served as motivation for her to improve her business capacity and product quality. She expressed hope that such activities would continue so that more MSMEs could have the opportunity to learn, develop and compete in an increasingly competitive market.
