Makassar, South Sulawesi — PT PLN (Persero) Unit Induk Distribusi Sulawesi Selatan, Sulawesi Tenggara, dan Sulawesi Barat (UID Sulselrabar) has mobilised emergency readiness operations to ensure personnel are prepared to maintain reliable electricity supply so that communities can observe Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah with peace of mind.

General Manager of PLN UID Sulselrabar Edyansyah stated in Makassar on Thursday that electricity supply in South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi provinces is currently secure and adequate.

“In this emergency readiness operation, we are deploying 2,315 personnel across 73 emergency posts distributed throughout South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi provinces for 24 hours,” Edyansyah said.

PLN projects average peak load during the Ramadan period in the Southern Sulawesi Electrical System at 1,918.1 megawatts (MW). During Eid al-Fitr, peak load is estimated at 1,548 MW with a supply capacity of 2,080.1 MW, ensuring adequate electricity supply.

“Additionally, renewable energy supply is projected at 47.68 per cent in Sulselrabar, making it one of Indonesia’s greenest systems,” he noted.

To ensure comfort and provide the best service to all segments of society, PLN has also prepared supporting equipment during the emergency period, including 152 generator sets, 30 uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units, 79 mobile transformer units (UGB), 13 cranes, 308 vehicles, and 169 motorcycles.

“Furthermore, 10 specialised teams for live electrical work (PDKB) have also been mobilised,” Edyansyah added.

Edyansyah also emphasised that electric vehicle users planning to travel during the Eid exodus need not worry, as PLN has provided 69 public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) distributed across 53 locations in Sulselrabar.

“We are committed to providing the best service so that during Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, communities can comfortably conduct their activities with reliable and sufficient electricity supply,” he explained.
