PLN UID Sulselrabar GM Assures No Electricity Tariff Changes
Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA) - General Manager of PT PLN (Persero) Unit Induk Distribusi Sulawesi Selatan, Sulawesi Tenggara, and Sulawesi Barat (UID Sulselrabar), Edyansyah, has assured that there will be no changes to electricity tariffs.
“Electricity tariffs for households have not changed since July 2022. Therefore, if there are differences in the amount paid, this is generally influenced by changes in electricity consumption patterns or other cost components,” said Edyansyah in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Friday.
Regarding the widespread hoaxes about electricity tariff increases, PLN has appealed to and encouraged the public to understand energy consumption patterns and the various components that influence electricity payments, so that the public can manage their electricity usage more wisely, efficiently, and according to their daily needs.
Edyansyah explained that the amount of electricity payments for customers may differ in each period or transaction because it is influenced by the level of electricity energy usage and a number of cost components that apply in accordance with the provisions in each region.
According to him, PLN supports customers in understanding that electricity payments are not only influenced by electricity tariffs, but also by energy usage patterns and other components that follow the provisions of local governments or applicable regulations.
“With this understanding, customers can more easily manage their electricity consumption according to their needs,” said Edyansyah.
For postpaid services, the total electricity bill is calculated based on the amount of electricity energy usage (kWh) recorded on the customer’s meter, then added to other components such as the tax on certain goods and services for electricity (PBJT-TL), which varies in each region, stamp duty, and value-added tax (VAT) for certain categories.
Meanwhile, for prepaid services, the nominal value of the electricity token purchased by customers is not entirely converted into electricity energy. A portion is first allocated for the payment of PBJT-TL in accordance with the provisions of the local government, and the remainder is converted into the amount of kWh that customers can use.
As an illustration, a customer with a 2,200 VA power supply who purchases an electricity token worth IDR 200,000 will be charged an administration fee (usually IDR 3,000) and PBJT-TL in Makassar of 10 percent, so that the value converted into electricity is IDR 179,091.
With an electricity tariff of IDR 1,444.70 per kWh, customers will receive 123.96 kWh of electricity energy.
In the postpaid system, the calculation also still refers to the amount of electricity energy usage. This means that if a customer’s electricity usage is 123.96 kWh, then the total bill paid will also be the same after adding the PBJ components in accordance with the applicable provisions.
“Customers can now easily monitor their electricity usage history and token purchase history through the PLN Mobile application,” he said.
In addition, postpaid customers can also utilize the Swacam (Self-Reading Meter) feature to record meter readings independently as a form of control over monthly electricity usage.
Through the Swacam feature on PLN Mobile, postpaid customers can record meter readings by opening the Swacam menu, selecting the Customer ID, taking a photo of the meter reading on the kWh meter, and then sending the recording results through the application according to the specified period.
This feature helps customers monitor the consistency of electricity usage more transparently.
“Through a better understanding of consumption patterns and electricity payment components, customers can utilize electricity energy more efficiently, comfortably, and according to their daily needs,” said Edyansyah.
