PLN UID Sulselrabar ensures 69 EV charging stations ready to serve electric vehicle users
Makassar — PT PLN (Persero) through PLN Unit Induk Distribusi Sulawesi Selatan, Sulawesi Tenggara and Sulawesi Barat (UID Sulselrabar) has confirmed the readiness of 69 public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) to serve electric vehicle (EV) users in the region.
The dozens of SPKLU units are distributed across 53 strategic locations and staffed with personnel on standby 24 hours non-stop to ensure smooth operations for electric vehicle users during Ramadan and for EV-driving homebound travellers during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah festivities.
“We have been preparing well in advance to provide comfort for electric vehicle users who want to charge,” said General Manager PLN UID Sulselrabar Edyansyah in Makassar, Tuesday.
According to him, SPKLU readiness is one of PLN’s main focuses during Ramadan through Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, given the increasing number of EV users in Sulselrabar.
For Eid 2026, he said EV homebound travellers in Sulselrabar are projected to increase. As a locomotive in energy transition, PLN is standing by to provide comfort for people undertaking homebound journeys using EVs.
“We have conducted inspections and mapped strategic points to ensure EV homebound travellers can easily access SPKLU during their journey,” said Edyansyah.
He noted that 655 transactions were recorded at SPKLU PLN UID Sulselrabar during Ramadan 2026, a fivefold increase compared to the previous period.
“To ensure homebound travellers are comfortable charging, PLN has also prepared nine lounges at SPKLU spread throughout the region. The presence of these lounges is also important, particularly in providing comfort to EV homebound travellers during their journey,” he said.
Technology support is also provided through the PLN Mobile application, which features Electric Vehicle Digital Services (EVDS) to help users find the nearest SPKLU location.
The PLN Mobile app also includes a Trip Planner feature that helps users plan their travel route and determine the best location point for optimal charging.
“Customers will not have difficulty finding SPKLU. Through features in PLN Mobile, they can easily search for SPKLU locations and plan charging with the Trip Planner feature we provide,” said Edyansyah.
With optimised infrastructure and service readiness, PLN is committed to promoting an EV ecosystem in Indonesia and ensuring a safe, comfortable and worry-free homebound travel experience for EV users.
