PLN UID Jakarta Raya highlights women's role in managing household electricity
Jakarta (ANTARA) - General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Moch Andy Adchaminoerdin, marked Hari Kartini by highlighting the importance of women’s roles in managing household electricity. “Once married, the mother’s role is very important in managing finances. Mothers are usually wise in adjusting, including with regard to electricity,” said Andy when met at the Kartini Smart Energy Class event at the TP PKK DKI Jakarta Office on Monday. Andy gave an example that in households, mothers often remind family members to save energy, such as turning off lights when not in use, and so on. In addition, many mothers are now switching to electricity-based household appliances, such as rice cookers, electric stoves, and others. Therefore, for Hari Kartini, PLN UID Jakarta Raya partnered with the TP PKK to organise the Kartini Smart Energy Class talkshow. In the event, Andy said that mothers were given education on electricity use in daily life. The materials were prepared by TP PKK DKI Jakarta. On the same occasion, Acting Head of TP PKK DKI Jakarta, Dewi Indriati Rano Karno, stated that along with technological advancements, women must also understand the importance of utilising technology in more prudent energy use. According to her, this is an important step to realise an independent and resilient society. “As women who hold strategic roles in families and society, we certainly realise that the daily decisions we make, especially in energy use, impact the quality of family life and the environment,” said Dewi. Therefore, Dewi said that the activity is a good opportunity to increase awareness in instilling a sustainable and environmentally conscious lifestyle by applying the smart energy concept. “I hope that as agents of change, all TP PKK members follow this activity seriously and participate actively so that the knowledge gained can be applied in household and community life,” said Dewi.
