PLN SustainAction 2026 Returns, Opens Opportunities for Sustainable Innovation
PT PLN (Persero) is once again holding PLN SustainAction 2026 and inviting various elements of society to present innovative solutions to sustainable development challenges in Indonesia. Registration is open free of charge from 10 August to 16 September 2026 via the PLN Mobile application.
PLN SustainAction 2026 is an innovation competition for communities, academics, startups, business actors and the public to encourage the emergence of sustainable ideas and solutions. The competition not only focuses on climate change and environmental conservation issues, but also encourages the creation of positive impacts for society and the economy through relevant, applicable and collaborative solutions.
Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications and TJSL at PLN, Gregorius Adi Trianto, said that PLN SustainAction is a manifestation of PLN’s support for various positive initiatives developing in society, including those still facing limitations in access, financing or capacity to develop their programmes.
“Through PLN SustainAction 2026, PLN wants to open space for communities from various regions to take their positive ideas further. Selected innovations and best practices will receive support to be realised in the field, so that their benefits can be felt directly by the community,” said Gregorius.
In this year’s event, PLN SustainAction 2026 presents five categories: Climate Innovation for innovations in climate change mitigation and adaptation; Sustainable Village for strengthening village or regional resilience through environmental, social and economic approaches; Ecopreneur for environmentally friendly business models based on the circular economy; Renewable Energy 3T for expanding access to clean energy in underdeveloped, frontier and outermost regions; and Education for Impact for encouraging the development of sustainable education.
Gregorius explained that registered innovations must be original works that have at least passed the trial or beta test stage and still require support for further development. Innovations are also expected to have clear benefits, long-term development plans, and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
All submitted innovations will go through a series of selection processes, from administrative selection, preliminary rounds, semi-finals, finals to feasibility checking. Direct field reviews are also conducted for innovations that pass to the final stage to assess their readiness and development potential.
“To maintain the independence of the assessment, PLN involves experts and practitioners in the fields of sustainability, community empowerment, education and the environment,” Gregorius stressed.
As a form of appreciation and implementation support, winners from each category will receive mentoring to realise their innovations in the field. The programme also pays attention to local groups, indigenous communities and vulnerable groups as beneficiaries, so that the innovations developed can encourage more inclusive and equitable development.
Gregorius invited people across Indonesia to take advantage of this opportunity by registering various innovations that have been developed. Each team may also submit more than one innovation through the official registration channel.
