PLN Supports Agrarian Reform Programme Through MSME Assistance in Majene
Makassar (ANTARA) - PT PLN, through its Main Distribution Unit for South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and West Sulawesi (UID Sulselrabar), is helping to ensure the success of the Agrarian Reform Access Handling Programme initiated by the National Land Agency (BPN) of Majene Regency, West Sulawesi, through the mentoring of micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM).
Beyond the asset arrangement pillar of land legalisation and redistribution, the programme also covers access arrangement for community economic empowerment, a government policy designed to address inequality in land control and utilisation.
“PLN, through Rumah BUMN in Majene, is ready to support capacity building for UMKM so that the community’s utilisation of the land they now own can add value and help realise economic independence in Limbua Village and Bonde Utara Village,” said Edyansyah, General Manager of PLN UID Sulselrabar, in a statement issued in Makassar on Friday.
In 2026, the assisted locations will focus on Limbua Village in Sendana District and Bonde Utara Village in Pamboang District, Majene. In these two villages, average monthly incomes remain below Rp2 million.
Small business owners in the area still face a number of obstacles, including limited capital, low production capacity, restricted marketing and weak business institutions.
Moreover, the majority of residents still sell their agricultural produce as raw materials. Yet Bonde Utara Village has strong potential in capture fisheries, while Limbua Village excels in shallot farming.
Edyansyah then invited all UMKM in Majene to join and take advantage of the facilities and mentoring available so that their businesses can grow, become more competitive and add value to the regional economy.
“Our Rumah BUMN serves as a space for UMKM players to learn, collaborate and grow,” said Edyansyah.
Edyansyah expressed hope that the Agrarian Reform Programme can unite various agencies to jointly take on strategic roles in improving community welfare.
According to BPN data, there are around 200 families (KK) across the two areas, with 66 per cent holding land redistribution certificates and 34 per cent obtaining them through the Complete Systematic Land Registration (PTSL) programme.
Muhammad Ilham Yamin, Head of the BPN Office in Majene Regency, said that access arrangement is a crucial stage once the community has obtained legal certainty over its land.
He went on to express appreciation for the support of PLN UID Sulselrabar through Rumah BUMN Majene, which is playing a part in the Agrarian Reform Programme.
“It is hoped that this synergy can strengthen community empowerment through business mentoring, so that land with legal certainty can deliver greater economic benefits to the community,” said Ilham.
Haidir Ali, Manager of PLN’s Rumah BUMN in Majene, confirmed that his side will provide business mentoring to the communities in the two villages.
Rumah BUMN PLN Majene will assist residents from forming business groups and facilitating business legality such as Business Identification Numbers (NIB) and Sole Proprietorships (PT Perorangan), through to product certification, including distribution permits, halal certification and trademark intellectual property rights (HKI).
“We will also strengthen human resource capacity through UMKM training and mentoring, while driving product downstreaming through packaging support, business digitalisation and expanded market access so that local products command higher selling prices,” said Haidir Ali.
