PLN Supplies Electricity to Noemuke Hamlet in NTT via Rural Electrification Programme
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT PLN (Persero) has extended 24-hour electricity supply to Noemuke Hamlet, South Timor Tengah Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), through the Rural Electrification Programme (Lisdes), providing benefits to 149 heads of households.
“As a state-owned enterprise entrusted with providing electrical energy, PLN is committed to continuously providing electricity access even to the most remote parts of the country,” stated PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo in an official statement confirmed from Jakarta on Thursday.
Darmawan emphasised that every home successfully connected to the grid in remote areas carries different stories and hopes. Consequently, the government’s efforts, alongside PLN, to bring electricity to remote regions are not merely about building power networks, but also about opening community access to broader opportunities.
“The presence of electricity serves as a foundation to accelerate equitable development, drive the economy, create jobs, and assist in poverty alleviation. Therefore, PLN remains committed to ensuring that no more communities live in darkness,” said Darmawan.
For PLN, he continued, this achievement is the result of collaboration between many parties. The central government, local governments, community leaders, and local residents have all played a role in ensuring that electrical infrastructure development proceeds smoothly.
General Manager of the PLN NTT Regional Unit, F. Eko Sulistyono, stated that efforts to bring electricity to remote villages will continue as part of PLN’s commitment to supporting regional development.
Eko added that behind the lights now shining in 149 homes, there lies a long and not always easy journey. The hilly geographical conditions and limited access meant that the development of electrical infrastructure had to be carried out gradually, taking field conditions into account.
To deliver this electricity, PLN constructed 1.03 kilometres of Medium Voltage Network (JTM), 4.9 kilometres of Low Voltage Network (JTR), and a distribution transformer with a capacity of 50 kVA.
“Regions like Noemuke require technical readiness and time. With the infrastructure now operational, we hope this electricity can be utilised by residents to support various productive daily activities,” he said.
