Makassar (ANTARA) - PT PLN (Persero) Unit Induk Distribusi Sulawesi Selatan, Sulawesi Tenggara, and Sulawesi Barat (UID Sulselrabar) recorded a surge in the use of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) during the standby period for the Ramadan and Idulfitri homecoming (RAFI) 1447 Hijriah. In detail, the charging frequency from 11 to 31 March 2026 reached 2,701 transactions, up from 1,826 transactions in the same period the previous year. Meanwhile, electricity consumption was recorded at 71,794.15 kilowatt hours (kWh), an increase from 48,580.58 kWh in 2025. “Thank you to the electric vehicle users who have trusted PLN’s electric vehicle charging services at SPKLU,” said General Manager of PLN UID Sulselrabar, Edyansyah, in Makassar on Thursday. He detailed that PLN UID Sulselrabar has also added charging facilities, with 74 units of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) now operational at 54 locations spread across the provinces of South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi. He explained that PLN continues to innovate in improving services to the public. “We are committed to providing the best service to make it easier for electric car users to charge,” added Edyansyah. In addition to infrastructure expansion, PLN has improved service quality through charging technology modernisation. Several high-usage SPKLU have been upgraded from standard charging to fast charging and even ultra-fast charging, making the charging process faster. This service enhancement is also supported by the development of a digital ecosystem through the Electric Vehicle Digital Services (EVDS) feature on the PLN Mobile app, which makes it easier for users to access SPKLU services in an integrated manner. PLN has also introduced the Trip Planner feature to help users plan journeys with information on SPKLU locations and connector availability. While charging an electric car at the PLN Unit Pelaksana Pelayanan Pelanggan (UP3) Bulukumba SPKLU, Mahdi expressed his appreciation for the PLN Fast Charging SPKLU facility. “This is very helpful for us to charge our electric vehicle. It’s fast and the place is comfortable,” said Fahrul.
