PLN Sulselrabar GM Emphasises Safe Distance of 3 Metres from Power Lines
Makassar (ANTARA) - General Manager of PLN’s Sulawesi Selatan, Sulawesi Tenggara, and Sulawesi Barat Distribution Unit (UID Sulselrabar), Edyansyah, has emphasised the safe distance of three metres from 20 kV power lines. This is stipulated in Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 36 of 2013 on Electrical Power Safety and Occupational Health. “This regulation is very important to prevent fatal accidents, both to humans and assets,” said Edyansyah in Makassar on Monday. To safeguard public safety and enhance the reliability of electricity supply, PLN is appealing for electrical power safety awareness to the public in order to increase vigilance and understanding of electrical hazards. He explained that safety is paramount and nothing is more important than human life. “PLN urges the public to increase vigilance, especially if there are trees or structures approaching PLN lines and potential electrical hazards, to immediately report to the nearest office or via the PLN Mobile app,” said Edyansyah. He added that PLN is also committed to protecting the public from electrical dangers that are often not visible to the naked eye. According to him, appeals and socialisation are PLN’s ongoing efforts to reduce accident risks due to negligence around power lines. “We hope this appeal can increase public awareness of electrical power safety. The better the understanding, the lower the risk of accidents, thus creating a safe, comfortable, and orderly energy environment,” he said.
