PLN Successfully Restores 100% of Jakarta's Electricity Supply

Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT PLN (Persero) states that it has successfully restored 100 per cent of the electricity system that experienced disruptions in parts of Jakarta at 10:25 WIB. “PLN continues to strive to strengthen the reliability of the electricity system and conveys its apologies for the inconvenience caused,” said Senior Manager of Communication and Public Affairs for PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Haris Andika, when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday. He explained that the majority of affected customers had their electricity supply restored by 12:23 WIB, while the remaining approximately 5 per cent were restored by 15:05 WIB. For context, he added, the electricity system in the Jakarta and surrounding areas is supported by 76 substations, of which 13 were temporarily affected by the supply disruption. “For customers needing information and PLN services, they can access the PLN Mobile application or the PLN Contact Centre at 123,” he said. Based on ANTARA’s observations on Thursday morning, the power outage occurred in several areas of Central Jakarta such as Thamrin and Bendungan Hilir, South Jakarta such as Kuningan, Jagakarsa, Tebet, and other areas like East Jakarta. Previously, a power outage also occurred in several parts of Jakarta on Thursday (9/4). At that time, PLN stated that the disruption originated from the system in several substations, causing a temporary halt in electricity supply in the affected areas. In response, PLN quickly mobilised to normalise the situation by deploying field personnel. The restoration process was carried out in stages to ensure the electricity system was stable and safe before supplying it to customers. The outage also impacted services on the integrated mass rapid transit or MRT, with operational disruptions at several stations on Thursday (9/4) afternoon at 17:57 WIB.
