PLN Strengthens Women's Contributions Through the Srikandi Movement
PT PLN (Persero) continues to promote women’s contributions in delivering sustainable social impact, as well as driving the economy and community welfare, through the Srikandi Movement programme in line with the spirit of Kartini Day. This Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programme has had a broad impact, reaching 40,000 beneficiaries in more than 140 locations across various regions throughout 2025.
The Srikandi Movement is an initiative of PLN’s Srikandi group, focusing on improving quality of life through community empowerment. The programme is implemented through five main initiatives: Srikandi Goes to School/Campus, Srikandi Sahabat Anak, Women Support Women, Srikandi Care, and Inspiring Srikandi, designed to deliver tangible impacts in education, social, economic, health, and women’s capacity development.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that the role of PLN’s Srikandi is no longer limited to operational activities and electricity provision. PLN’s Srikandi actively promotes added value for society, particularly women and vulnerable groups. Through the Srikandi Movement, PLN can continuously contribute positively to women’s empowerment across various sectors.
“Through the Srikandi Movement, PLN aims to ensure that our presence provides broader benefits. This programme is designed to encourage independence, improve quality of life, and open opportunities for women to develop and contribute to the economy,” said Darmawan in a written statement on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
Meanwhile, PLN Srikandi Daily Chair Kamia Handayani stated that overall, the Srikandi Movement has reached tens of thousands of beneficiaries through various cross-sector initiatives. This is reflected in the Community Satisfaction Index (IKM) of 89.5 and a positive Social Return on Investment (SROI) value, as concrete indicators of the benefits felt by the community.
Kamia explained that currently, Women Support Women is one of the flagship programmes of the Srikandi Movement with very positive implementation achievements. This programme has reached 1,296 beneficiaries and involved 36 groups, with an SROI value of 5.79, indicating multiplied impacts for the community in 2025.
“Through Women Support Women, we encourage women to be more economically independent, not only by providing access and opportunities but also equipping them with skills, mentoring, and networks that can strengthen the sustainability of their businesses,” clarified Kamia.
Not only Women Support Women, the Srikandi Movement consists of several complementary flagship programmes. The Srikandi Goes to School/Campus programme focuses on enhancing literacy and awareness through knowledge-sharing activities beyond the formal curriculum, which has reached 5,102 people and 240 educators in 60 locations.
“Next, Srikandi Sahabat Anak is also present to strengthen the fulfilment of children’s rights and welfare through education, mentoring, and basic needs assistance. This programme has reached 16,591 children, 301 teachers and mentors in 83 schools and institutions, and recorded an SROI value of 2.59,” she explained.
In the health sector, Srikandi Care contributes to improving maternal and child health through nutrition education, health services, and stunting reduction efforts. This programme has reached 7,309 mothers and 3,249 children, with an SROI value of 2.68.
Meanwhile, on PLN’s internal side, Inspiring Srikandi is presented as a platform for women’s capacity development through non-civil service training, such as enhancing skills and personal competencies, which has been attended by more than 8,400 participants.
Through the Srikandi Movement, PLN is optimistic about continuing to expand positive impacts for society and strengthening women’s role as an important pillar in Indonesia’s economic and social development. This effort also reaffirms the company’s sustainability commitment in promoting inclusive and long-term impactful empowerment.
“All the programmes we run are designed to provide sustainable impact. We believe that when women are empowered, families and communities will also grow and provide broader benefits,” added Kamia.
Lanny Juliana Mogot, one of the Srikandi Movement programme beneficiaries from Manado, North Sulawesi, also felt the positive impact of the initiative, particularly Women Support Women. According to the micro, small, and medium enterprise (UMKM) actor, support from PLN through the women’s empowerment programme has brought significant changes in her business development.
“This programme really helps us to grow. We not only receive assistance but also knowledge and mentoring in running the business. Now we are more confident in expanding the business and increasing family income,” she said.
