PLN Strengthens Vocational Education to Prepare Human Resources for the Electric Vehicle Industry
The Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programme of PT PLN (Persero) has driven the transformation of the practical workshop at SMK Dinamika Jakarta into a Motorcycle Engineering Teaching Factory that supports the development of electric vehicle competencies. Through the Electric Vehicle Conversion Upgrading programme, students have not only gained more modern learning facilities but also improved their competencies, with some teachers and students now trusted to serve as certification assessors for electric motorcycle conversion.
The transformation represents a form of collaboration between the education sector and industry in preparing human resources capable of meeting the demands of the energy transition and the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia.
General Manager of PLN’s Java, Madura and Bali Load Control Centre (PLN UIP2B Jamali), Munawwar Furqan, said the potential of the younger generation will flourish when supported by the right ecosystem. According to him, synergy between education and industry is one of the keys to producing competent human resources to face future challenges.
“Seeing the school continue to grow and be able to produce graduates with recognised competencies is certainly a source of pride as well as motivation for PLN to continue delivering programmes that provide long-term benefits,” said Munawwar in a statement on Monday (10/8/2026).
The programme was implemented by PLN UIP2B Jamali through the DKI Jakarta and Banten Load Control Unit (UP2B Jakban) by providing practical equipment assistance while opening up learning access that is more relevant to the needs of the electric vehicle industry.
The impact of the programme is now visible. The practical workshop, which previously only functioned as a learning space, has developed into a Motorcycle Engineering Teaching Factory. Students no longer merely study the theory of electric vehicle conversion but are also able to carry out practice according to industry standards, produce work, and build an increasingly professional work culture.
This development has even exceeded expectations. A number of teachers and students are now trusted to be part of the electric motorcycle conversion certification assessor team in Duri City. This achievement demonstrates that support through the TJSL programme not only enhances the school’s capacity but also produces recognised competencies and delivers broader benefits.
