PLN strengthens electricity system during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr
PT PLN (Persero) is reinforcing the preparedness of the national and Bali regional electricity systems in advance of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH to minimise potential disruptions and maintain public comfort for worship and activities during the holiday period.
Adi Priyanto, Director of Retail and Commerce at PT PLN (Persero), explained in a statement in Denpasar on Wednesday that nationally PLN has prepared a supply capacity of 51.9 GW with a projected peak load of approximately 35.0 GW on Eid al-Fitr day. With a power reserve of approximately 48 per cent, the national system is in a controlled condition.
PLN also ensures sufficient primary energy with coal stocks above 22 days of power plant operations (DPO), gas above 11 days, and fuel above 9 days.
“We are strengthening system security from generation, transmission, to distribution to reduce the potential for disruptions and enable faster response,” said Adi.
Specifically for Bali, Eric Rossi Priyo Nugroho, General Manager of PLN Unit Injak Distribusi (UID) Bali, reported that Bali’s system capacity is 1,451 MW with a projected peak load of 1,194 MW and a power reserve of 257 MW or approximately 17.7 per cent. The Nusa Penida system is also in a controlled condition with a 14.5 per cent power reserve.
A total of 71 command posts supported by 1,103 personnel have been prepared, including security at 58 priority mosques, ports, airports, and public locations that serve as hubs of public activity during Eid al-Fitr.
Eric explained that the system reserve margin is dynamic, following load patterns, power plant maintenance schedules, and electricity consumption growth. With a current power reserve of 17.7 per cent, the Bali system is within safe operational limits, supported by regular evaluation and strengthening to maintain supply stability.
