PLN Strengthens East Java Electric Vehicle Ecosystem to Achieve NZE 2060

PT PLN (Persero) is strengthening the electric vehicle ecosystem in East Java to support the government’s programme towards the Net Zero Emissions (NZE) 2060 target while accelerating electric vehicle adoption across various sectors. General Manager of PLN UID East Java Ahmad Mustaqir stated that this effort is part of the strategic Coreboost 2.0 programme aimed at accelerating the transformation to more environmentally friendly energy use. “We are ensuring this programme delivers significant and sustainable benefits in preserving the earth, creating an ecosystem that not only focuses on electric vehicles but also cultivates an Electrifying Lifestyle culture for the people of East Java,” he said in Surabaya on Monday. A total of 3,335 operational vehicles used by meter recording officers will eventually switch to electric vehicles, distributed in stages. In implementing the programme, PLN Group East Java is collaborating with Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) and PT Hartono Istana Teknologi (Polytron) to strengthen the electric vehicle ecosystem in East Java. Through this synergy, PLN Group East Java is presenting an integrated solution covering the provision of electric vehicles, financing support, and insurance protection. This step is expected to expand the utilisation of electric vehicles while creating an increasingly robust and sustainable ecosystem. Meanwhile, President Director of PLN Electricity Services Susiana Mutia affirmed the company’s commitment to continuously supporting PLN’s steps in accelerating the clean energy transition through the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem. According to her, the collaboration between PLN Group East Java, BRI, and Polytron demonstrates the importance of cross-sector synergy in driving the transformation towards a green economy. Support from the energy, banking, manufacturing, and supporting services sectors forms a crucial foundation in accelerating electric vehicle adoption in Indonesia. Regional Consumer Business Head of BRI Regional Office Surabaya Tri Prasetyo Hadi Nugroho said that easy and affordable financing support is one of the key factors in expanding the use of electric vehicles. Meanwhile, Head of Group Product EV2W at PT Hartono Istana Teknologi (Polytron) Ilman Fachrian Fadly affirmed Polytron’s commitment to supporting the acceleration of battery-based electric vehicle use as part of efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
