PLN Strengthens Cross-Sector Collaboration for Village Electrification Programme
Jakarta (ANTARA) – As a follow-up to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources’ directive to accelerate equitable electricity access, PT PLN (Persero) continues to strengthen collaboration with various stakeholders through the Village Electrification Programme Alignment Forum on Monday (13/7). This effort is supported by the government, which has allocated a budget of Rp10.3 trillion for the first phase in 2026. The synergy between the government and PLN has received appreciation from several regional heads who have witnessed the acceleration of electricity access provision for their communities.
The forum brought together the government as regulator, the Attorney General’s Office for legal oversight, local governments, industry players, academics, associations, and PLN partners. Through this forum, all stakeholders aligned their steps, strengthened governance, and accelerated the implementation of the Village Electrification Programme across Indonesia.
Acting Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ing Tri Winarno, emphasised that the acceleration of the Village Electrification Programme must be supported by accurate data to ensure precise targeting. The government has allocated a budget of Rp10.3 trillion for the first phase in 2026 to speed up equitable electricity access, with implementation to be jointly overseen by the Development Finance Comptroller (BPKP) and the Attorney General’s Office to ensure accountability.
“Data validation is a crucial step to ensure no region is left behind in obtaining electricity access. We want to make sure all locations that need electricity are properly identified, so that the implementation of the Village Electrification Programme is truly on target and the benefits can be felt by the community,” he said.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo asserted that equitable electricity access must not stop at being a mere commitment or target, but must be realised through concrete actions so that all people can enjoy electricity services. “We appreciate President Prabowo Subianto and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia. Their directive is clear, which is to realise the fifth principle of Pancasila, Social Justice for All Indonesian People. This is not just a commitment, but must be manifested in real action,” Darmawan said.
According to Darmawan, the Village Electrification Programme not only builds electricity networks but also opens up economic opportunities, improves the quality of life, and strengthens national energy security. Therefore, its success requires support and collaboration from all stakeholders.
Meanwhile, Director of Strategic Electricity Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Andriah Feby Misna, stated that the government and PLN have developed a roadmap for the Village Electrification Programme integrated with the New Electricity Connection Assistance Programme (BPBL) to accelerate more targeted equitable electricity access. “We have developed a roadmap for the Village Electrification Programme, which we also combine with BPBL. Here, the government’s task is to help underprivileged communities connect to the electricity grid,” said Andriah.
In line with this commitment, the implementation of the Village Electrification Programme continues to show positive progress. As of April 2026, PLN has realised electricity access through state budget funding in 1,403 locations, serving 40,764 households. By the end of 2026, PLN and the government are targeting expansion to 2,792 locations with the potential to reach 137,266 prospective customers.
This collaboration received appreciation from North Maluku Governor Sherly Tjoanda. She noted that the number of unelectrified villages in North Maluku had decreased from around 70 villages in early 2025 to 43 villages in 2026. “We hope the completion of villages carried over from 2025 and the additional 2026 Village Electrification Programme can be finalised soon so that all remaining villages gain access to electricity. We appreciate PLN’s support,” said Sherly.
Meanwhile, Central Sulawesi Governor Anwar Hafid affirmed the local government’s commitment to supporting the acceleration of electricity infrastructure development through streamlined permitting and close coordination with PLN. “We are ready to support the acceleration of electricity infrastructure development in Central Sulawesi. If there are obstacles in the field, please inform the local government immediately. Electricity is a crucial foundation for investment, public services, and economic growth,” said Anwar.
