PT PLN (Persero) has strengthened strategic collaboration with the West Java Provincial Government through the signing of a joint memorandum of understanding on the provision of electricity that is sustainable and environmentally conscious in West Java, at Gedung Sate, Bandung, on Monday, 18 May. The partnership is a practical step to accelerate the development of electricity infrastructure, expand universal access to electricity, and support the energy transition in West Java.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi emphasised that energy development in the Land of Sunda must be aligned with commitments to ecological preservation while ensuring all residents have fair and widespread access to electricity. ‘Today we have a commitment: first, energy development in West Java must adhere to the principle of ecological sustainability. Second, when West Java exports electricity to other regions to light up Indonesia, West Java must not be in darkness. In other words, no West Java resident should be left without electricity,’ he said.

He added that the collaboration between the West Java Provincial Government and PLN targets that all West Java residents can enjoy electricity access by early 2027. ‘We target that the cooperation between the West Java Provincial Government and PT PLN (since) this year will, at the latest, be by early 2027, with all residents of West Java lit by PLN’s light,’ he continued.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo welcomed the commitment, emphasising the company’s readiness to support the province’s broader vision of energy justice for all its people. ‘Today PLN, together with the West Java Provincial Government under the leadership of Kang Dedi Mulyadi, is working with a single goal: to deliver welfare for West Java residents through reliable, evenly distributed, and sustainable electricity,’ he said.

The MoU also serves as a foundational basis for accelerating the development of electricity infrastructure in West Java. Moreover, the cooperation strengthens strategic coordination between PLN and the West Java Provincial Government in supporting the pace of electricity projects and a sustainable energy transition. ‘PLN agrees that the development of electricity infrastructure must align with ecological sustainability. The Governor’s stance is extraordinary. Today we are working together to illuminate the people of West Java,’ added Darmawan.

As a follow-up, this cooperation will be reinforced and implemented through a Cooperation Agreement between the West Java Provincial Government and PLN’s Central Java Construction Unit and PLN’s Central Java Transmission Unit.

With the spirit of collaboration, PLN is optimistic that West Java will not only support national energy resilience but also become a province where all its people can enjoy reliable electric light fairly, evenly, and sustainably.
