The number of transactions has increased more than threefold compared to last year, indicating high public enthusiasm for the electric vehicle ecosystem in eastern Indonesia.

Data from PLN’s Sulawesi Selatan, Tenggara, and Barat Distribution Main Unit (UID Sulselrabar) shows that the number of SPKLU transactions during this year’s Eid al-Fitr period reached 2,701 transactions with a total transaction value of Rp194,810,875.

This figure surged 208% compared to the Eid al-Fitr period of 1446 H, which only recorded 875 transactions worth Rp63,135,672.

“This increase shows the public’s enthusiasm for using electric vehicles, especially during the Lebaran homecoming moment. It is also an indicator that confidence in the readiness of the SPKLU infrastructure we provide is increasing,” said Ahmad Amirul Syarif, Manager of Communication and TJSL at PLN UID Sulselrabar, in Makassar.

PLN ensures that all SPKLU infrastructure operates optimally, safely, and reliably to support smooth mobility, including long-distance travel.

As of 1 April 2026, PLN has operated 74 SPKLU units spread across 54 locations in three provinces: Sulawesi Selatan, Sulawesi Tenggara, and Sulawesi Barat.

Amirul added that in the future, PLN will continue to add infrastructure gradually to ensure ease of access to charging. “Electric vehicle users do not need to worry about the availability of services,” he added.

Nationally, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia assessed that the increase in SPKLU transactions shows rapid development in the use of electric vehicles in Indonesia. “It would not be possible for there to be many electric cars if we did not build the SPKLU infrastructure,” he said.

Meanwhile, PLN’s President Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that the SPKLU development strategy in terms of quantity, technology, and digital service integration has boosted public confidence.

PLN, together with partners, has provided 4,769 SPKLU units at 3,097 points throughout Indonesia, with an average distance between SPKLUs of 22 kilometres.

PLN has also prepared 15 mobile SPKLU units at strategic points and upgraded several SPKLU from standard charging to fast charging and ultra-fast charging. PLN Mobile’s digital services, such as the Trip Planner and AntreEV features, further pamper electric vehicle users.
