PLN Shares Safe Electrical Practices During Mudik
PT PLN (Persero) has urged customers to ensure electrical conditions in their homes remain safe before leaving their residences for mudik during the 1447 Hijrah Idul Fitri celebration.
Executive Vice President of Corporate Communication and Corporate Social Responsibility at PLN, Gregorius Adi Trianto, emphasised the importance of checking electrical installations and electronic equipment before homes are left unoccupied for extended periods.
“Mudik is a moment anticipated by many families. Before departing, ensure that the home you are leaving behind is in safe condition, including electrical installations and electronic equipment. This way, customers can reunite with family with greater peace of mind without worry,” said Gregorius.
He explained that this step is crucial to avoid potential short circuits and other electrical disturbances that may occur when homes are unoccupied.
As a precautionary measure, PLN has shared several tips to keep electricity safe during mudik. First, customers must ensure that electrical installations in their homes are in good working condition. Secondly, unplug all electronic equipment from power outlets to prevent unnecessary electrical flow whilst reducing the risk of electrical disruptions.
Additionally, customers are advised to use lighting as needed, such as porch or yard lights, to maintain home security. The use of lights with automatic sensors can also be an option to improve energy efficiency.
PLN also reminds postpaid electricity customers to ensure that bills have been paid before the due date to avoid fines or service disconnection. Meanwhile, prepaid customers should ensure that sufficient electricity credit is available during the mudik period to maintain electrical supply.
Should electricity needs increase in their hometowns, customers can also request a power capacity increase according to their requirements.
For service convenience, PLN encourages customers to utilise the PLN Mobile application. Through this application, customers can conduct various transactions such as purchasing electricity credit, paying bills, applying for new connections, requesting power increases, and reporting electricity disruptions.
“PLN continues to provide convenience to customers through PLN Mobile. All electricity services can now be accessed in the palm of your hand, whenever and wherever. If there is a disruption, simply report it through the application and our officers will immediately follow up,” concluded Gregorius.
