PLN Restores Power After M7.0 Earthquake Hits Flores Sea

State-owned electricity company PLN is working to restore power in East Nusa Tenggara after a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the Flores Sea on Saturday morning. The tremor, which occurred around 06:00 WITA, triggered several aftershocks and disrupted the electricity system, including causing the Maumere and Rangko Gas Engine Power Plants to trip. This resulted in power outages across several areas. PLN is carrying out a phased recovery, starting with diesel power plants in the Labuan Bajo region that have been declared safe. The company is prioritising the restoration of electricity supply to vital facilities, including hospitals and disaster command posts, while ensuring the safety of personnel and the public. PLN has urged residents to remain calm and follow official information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency and the Regional Disaster Management Agency.
