PLN Restores Power After Gandul-Cirendeu Substation Fault, Assures Java System Reliability
PT PLN (Persero) has confirmed that electricity supply disrupted by a technical fault on the Gandul to Cirendeu substation line has been fully restored to normal. The disruption occurred on Monday at 4:59 a.m. Western Indonesia Time, and technical teams were immediately deployed to secure the infrastructure before commencing recovery. PLN’s Senior Manager for Communications and General Affairs in Greater Jakarta, Haris Andika, stated that the initial recovery process began at 5:14 a.m., with supply gradually returning to all customers by 7:00 a.m. PLN apologised for any inconvenience caused and urged customers still experiencing issues to report them via the PLN Mobile application or the PLN 123 contact centre. Separately, PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo reaffirmed the company’s commitment to strengthening the electricity system on Java to prevent future outages. This effort aligns with directives from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. A key strategy involves securing primary energy supply, with PLN receiving an additional allocation of 1.8 million tonnes of medium to high-calorie coal from the ministry, supplementing existing July supplies. Darmawan added that long-term projections are in place to fortify national energy security, with an additional 4.6 GW of capacity expected by 2027 to transform Java’s electricity system into a far more reliable network.
