PT PLN (Persero) successfully restored the electricity system in North Sumatra on Thursday (11/6/2026) at 09:39 WIB. This recovery was achieved approximately 72 hours faster than the initial estimate, which had predicted system normalisation would last until Sunday, 14 June 2026.

Thanks to this success, the electricity supply in North Sumatra has returned to normal and supply management through load management is no longer being carried out. A total of 74 feeders, 6,536 distribution substations, and 735,406 previously affected customers are now enjoying a normal 24-hour electricity supply again.

The system recovery was marked by the reconnection of the 275 kilovolt (kV) Galang-Simangkuk transmission network to the Sumatra interconnection system.

General Manager of PLN’s North Sumatra Distribution Unit (UID), Mundhakir, stated that the accelerated recovery was carried out in a measured manner while prioritising occupational safety.

“Alhamdulillah, the North Sumatra electricity system has returned to normal approximately 72 hours faster than the initial estimate. A total of 74 feeders, 6,536 distribution substations, and 735,406 previously affected customers are now enjoying a normal 24-hour electricity supply. Load management is also no longer being implemented,” Mundhakir said in an official statement on Friday (12/6/2026).

Mundhakir, representing PLN, expressed appreciation and gratitude to the public for their patience and support during the recovery process. Appreciation was also extended to the North Sumatra Provincial Government, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the Indonesian National Police, local governments, and all stakeholders who supported the acceleration of the electricity system’s normalisation.

“We thank the public for their patience and support during the recovery process. We also appreciate the North Sumatra Provincial Government, the TNI, Polri, local governments, and all stakeholders for their prayers, support, and collaboration, which enabled the North Sumatra electricity system to return to normal faster than estimated,” said Mundhakir.

Going forward, PLN will continue to conduct comprehensive monitoring and evaluation to ensure the reliability of the electricity supply is maintained. Infrastructure strengthening is also being carried out as part of PLN’s commitment to delivering reliable and high-quality energy services to the public.

The public can submit reports or complaints regarding electricity services through the PLN Mobile application or the PLN 123 Contact Centre.
