PLN Restores 100% of Jakarta's Electricity Supply Following Disruption
PT PLN (Persero) has restored 100 per cent of the electricity system in parts of Jakarta following a disruption on Thursday morning (23/4/2026). The power supply returned to normal in the afternoon after a phased recovery process was implemented since the disruption occurred.
The disruption was recorded at around 10:25 WIB and affected several customers. PLN’s technical teams worked on restoration both in the control system and on the ground until the entire network was back to normal operation.
Senior Manager of Communication and Public Relations for PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Haris Andika, stated that the majority of affected customers had regained electricity in a relatively short time. “The majority of impacted customers had their power supply restored by 12:23 WIB,” said Haris.
PLN recorded that approximately 95 per cent of affected customers were restored within less than three hours since the disruption. The recovery process was carried out in phases, prioritising areas with high electrical loads.
From an infrastructure perspective, the electricity system in Jakarta and its surroundings is supported by 76 substations. The disruption temporarily affected 13 substations, impacting electricity distribution in several areas.
Haris explained that the remaining customers without power were successfully restored in the afternoon. “The other 5 per cent was restored by 15:05 WIB,” he said.
PLN is using this incident as material for evaluation to improve the reliability of the electricity system. System strengthening is continuously carried out to minimise similar disruptions.
The company also provides service access for customers through the PLN Mobile application and the PLN 123 Contact Centre. PLN assures that the entire system has returned to normal and services to customers are running as usual.
