Jakarta, VIVA – Recently, various posts have gone viral on social media, particularly on the X platform, regarding complaints from netizens about rising electricity bills. Many users reported that their bills had increased by up to 100 per cent, accompanied by a surge in total electricity consumption. These users noted that there had been no changes in their electricity usage patterns or the addition of new electronic appliances, leading to widespread speculation that PLN had raised electricity tariffs.

Responding to these claims, the Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications and CSR of PT PLN (Persero), Gregorius Adi Trianto, emphasised that there is no increase in electricity tariffs for the April–June 2026 period, as previously established by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).

“PLN affirms that there is no increase in electricity tariffs,” said Greg on Tuesday, 2 June 2026. He ensured that PLN will continue to implement electricity tariff policies in accordance with those set by the Government through the Ministry of ESDM. “For the April–June 2026 period, electricity tariffs remain fixed and have not undergone any changes from the previous period,” Greg added.

He explained that the increase in electricity bills experienced by some customers could be influenced by changes in consumption patterns due to several factors, such as weather conditions, rising temperatures, and increased household activities. “Increased activity at home leads to an increase in the daily use of electrical appliances by customers,” Greg stated.

He further advised that the public can independently monitor their token purchase history and electricity bill payments through the PLN Mobile application to understand and manage their electricity usage patterns more efficiently.

“PLN also continues to urge customers to use electricity safely and wisely, including by periodically checking home electrical installations and unplugging unused electronic devices to keep energy consumption under control,” he said. For information, to check usage history via PLN Mobile, users can open the application, select the ‘Token and Payment’ menu on the main page, add their Customer ID, and then select ‘Usage History’ for postpaid customers or ‘Token Purchase History’ for prepaid customers.
