PLN Responds to Public Complaints Regarding Electricity Bills
Gregorius Adi Trianto, Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications and CSR at PT PLN (Persero), has ensured that there is no increase in electricity tariffs for the April–June 2026 period, as established by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
Greg explained that the increase in electricity bills experienced by some customers may be influenced by changes in electricity consumption patterns due to several factors, including weather conditions, rising temperatures, and increased activity within the home. “Increased activity at home leads to an increase in the daily use of electrical appliances,” he stated, as reported by Antara on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.
This statement was made in response to widespread information circulating on social media regarding complaints about rising electricity bills. “PLN emphasises that there is no increase in electricity tariffs,” he asserted.
Previously, several users on X (formerly Twitter) complained of electricity bills surging by up to 100 per cent, accompanied by a spike in total energy consumption, despite feeling there had been no change in usage patterns or the addition of new electronic devices. This led to allegations that PLN had increased electricity rates.
Greg stated that PLN consistently implements electricity tariff policies in accordance with those set by the Government through the Ministry of ESDM. “For the April–June 2026 period, electricity tariffs remain unchanged from the previous period,” he noted.
Furthermore, Greg stated that the public can independently monitor their token purchase history and electricity bill payments via the PLN Mobile application to better understand and manage electricity usage more efficiently. To check usage history, users can open the PLN Mobile app, select the “Token and Payment” menu, enter their Customer ID, and select “Usage History” for postpaid customers or “Token Purchase History” for prepaid customers.
PLN also continues to urge customers to use electricity safely and wisely, including regularly checking home electrical installations and unplugging unused electronic devices to keep energy consumption under control.
