PLN Responds to Power Outages in Several Regions
PT PLN (Persero) has stated that the Java electricity system is currently operating and under control. This was conveyed by PLN’s Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications and TJSL, Gregorius Adi Trianto, in response to power outages in several regions on Friday (19/6/2026). “However, to maintain the reliability of electricity supply to customers, PLN is carrying out limited and measured load management in a number of areas,” Greg said in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday. Greg explained that this measure was taken due to operational technical constraints at power plants, as well as two major generating units experiencing disruptions, causing them to be temporarily out of operation and reducing the system’s supply capacity. He added that PLN is continuously working to accelerate recovery and optimise supply from other plants. “PLN is also regulating system operations to maintain the balance between electricity supply and demand and to minimise the impact on customers,” Greg stated. Greg apologised to the public for the power outages. He said the load management is temporary and will be gradually halted as the system’s supply conditions improve. “PLN apologises for the inconvenience experienced by customers,” Greg said.
