Therefore, we at PLN Papua are fully committed to continuing to promote the provision of reliable clean energy and supporting infrastructure. Jayapura (ANTARA) - PLN’s Papua and West Papua Regional Unit continues to drive the development of an electric vehicle ecosystem in eastern Indonesia, particularly in Agats District, Asmat Regency, South Papua, where the area is projected to become a model city for electric motorcycles. General Manager of PLN’s Papua and West Papua Regional Unit, Diksi Erfani Umar, in Jayapura on Friday, stated that Agats’ success in adopting electric vehicles is concrete proof that a clean energy transition can be implemented widely, including in remote areas. “The use of electric motorcycles in Asmat Regency, especially in Agats, has developed rapidly in line with the community’s need for efficient and environmentally friendly transportation,” he said. According to Diksi, Agats District’s success is concrete evidence that a clean energy transition is very feasible and brings direct benefits to communities in the eastern region. He explained that to support community mobility, PLN has provided charging infrastructure in the form of Public Electricity Provision Stations (SPLU) at several strategic points in Agats. These facilities make it easier for the community to charge their electric vehicles on a daily basis. “In addition, we are also developing renewable energy-based technological innovations through the Heliogrid product, namely smart solar-powered electricity poles that can charge electric vehicles while storing energy,” he added. “Synergy between PLN and the local government is key to strengthening the electric vehicle ecosystem in Agats. With this support, it is hoped that Agats can become a model for developing clean energy-based transportation for other regions in Indonesia,” he stated.
