PLN President Director Oversees Sumatra Power Restoration After Outage
PLN continues to accelerate the restoration of the electricity system following a transmission disturbance affecting Sumatra. The company’s President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, and senior executives are closely monitoring the process, having visited the Sumatra Power Transmission and Load Control Unit (UIP3BS) in Pekanbaru, Riau, on Sunday (24 May).
President Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that 5,579 megawatts (MW) of power has been restored to 1,770 distribution networks previously affected. “We are directly overseeing the normalisation process on-site, and the Sumatra electricity system has now returned to normal. PLN continues to restore power to all customers,” he said in a statement on Monday (25 May 2026).
PLN is also monitoring power supply to public facilities such as hospitals, airports, and community service centres. This is part of prioritising critical services to ensure normal operations during system recovery.
Darmawan confirmed all electrical parameters in Sumatra are stable and operating optimally, ensuring continuous power supply. He added that PLN is conducting real-time system monitoring via UIP3BS, the operational control centre for Sumatra’s electricity system. “We are closely monitoring all operational parameters. Real-time oversight allows immediate response to developments, maintaining system safety, stability, and optimal service for public electricity needs,” he concluded.
In Pekanbaru, President Director Darmawan Prasodjo also inspected the Tenayan Steam Power Plant (PLTU) alongside PLN’s Director of Generation Management Rizal Calvary Marimbo, Director of Transmission and System Planning Edwin Nugraha Putra, and Director of Project Management and Renewable Energy Suroso Isnandar.
Meanwhile, in South Sumatra’s South Sumatra Load Control Execution Unit (UP2B Sumbagsel) in Palembang, PLN’s Distribution Director Arsyadany Akmala Putri led coordination efforts to oversee the orderly and safe restoration process.
