PLN: Power supply to 894,053 customers in Central Java disrupted by strong winds
The development of this situation should be a matter of common concern, especially in ensuring the protection of Indonesian umrah pilgrims and prospective hajj pilgrims.
Semarang (ANTARA) – PT PLN said that electricity supply to 894,053 customers in Central Java was disrupted, affected by heavy rain accompanied by strong winds in various regions on Wednesday afternoon (4 March).
General Manager of PLN Unit Induk Distribusi (UID) Jawa Tengah (Jateng) and Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) Bramantyo Anggun Pambudi, in Semarang, on Thursday, explained that the disruption occurred due to several fallen trees, toppled billboards, and wind-borne debris hitting the power network.
“Based on the latest reports we have gathered from the field, there are 129 electrical distribution feeders and 12,989 distribution substations that were affected by this extreme weather,” he said.
Areas experiencing disruptions include Cilacap, Purwokerto, Tegal, Pekalongan, Semarang, Grobogan, Kudus, and Sukoharjo.
As of Thursday, at 03:00 WIB, he said, electricity supply to 97 percent of affected customers had gradually returned to normal.
“We are moving quickly to restore the power system; repair work is being carried out gradually with safety as a priority for both the public and the officers in the field,” he said.
“We ask for prayers and support so that the restoration process can proceed smoothly,” he added.
If you encounter electricity lines that are still out or networks that are disrupted and potentially dangerous such as broken cables or leaning poles, he urged the public not to approach and to report immediately.
“We remind people to maintain a safe distance from affected power lines. Immediately report potential hazards via the PLN Mobile app, contact the Contact Center 123, or send a Direct Message (DM) to the PLN 123 official social media,” said Bramantyo Anggun Pambudi.
