JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) recorded a national peak electricity load of 34.77 gigawatts (GW) during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah celebrations. PLN’s President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, stated that this high peak load remains within safe boundaries, supported by the national supply capacity of 51.37 GW. Additionally, all PLN personnel were mobilised to maintain a reliable electricity supply, especially during Eid prayers. PLN has set an electricity readiness period until 31 March 2026 to ensure the system operates optimally amid rising electricity consumption. In detail, PLN secured power supply at 4,429 priority locations, including 2,044 places of worship, 706 transportation points, 439 crowded areas, 426 shopping centres, and 814 hospitals. “The priority locations are monitored as safe and under control with no electricity disruptions. We continue to conduct intensive monitoring so that the public can carry out activities during this Eid al-Fitr moment smoothly,” said Darmawan. For example, in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), the Lombok system recorded a load of 326 megawatts (MW) during Eid prayers with a capacity of 380 MW, leaving a reserve of 54 MW. Meanwhile, in the Tambora system on Sumbawa Island, the peak load reached 139 MW with a capacity of 188 MW and a power reserve of 49 MW. The General Manager of PLN’s NTB Regional Unit, Sri Heny Purwanti, assured that these conditions are sufficient to meet the public’s electricity needs during Eid.
