PLN Kalselteng Strengthens Competency of Prospective Electricity Workers
Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - PT PLN (Persero) Unit Induk Distribusi Kalimantan Selatan dan Kalimantan Tengah (UID Kalselteng) is strengthening the competency of prospective electricity workers through a Simple Building Electrical Installation Training programme. The programme is conducted in collaboration with the South Kalimantan Provincial Job Training Centre (BLK) and the Tanah Bumbu Regency Manpower and Transmigration Office.
General Manager of PLN UID Kalselteng, Iwan Soelistijono, stated in Banjarbaru on Monday that the training is part of PLN’s commitment to improving the quality of human resources while broadening public understanding of electricity.
“This step is part of PLN’s commitment to enhancing public understanding of electricity, both from technical and safety aspects,” he said.
The activity, held by PLN’s Batulicin Customer Service Unit on Monday (22/6), was attended by 18 participants. The training provided basic electrical installation skills, an understanding of work standards, and the application of a safety-first work culture.
During the training, PLN ULP Batulicin also delivered instruction on Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment (K3L) in electricity, covering the identification of potential electrical hazards, risk mitigation, and the implementation of workplace safety procedures.
“Through collaboration with various parties, we hope that more young people will have the skills, insight, and readiness to contribute to supporting regional development,” Iwan said.
According to Iwan, collaboration between the education sector, training institutions, and industry is a crucial factor in preparing a workforce capable of meeting the needs of the continuously developing energy sector.
“Through synergy, we hope that community skills development can be continuously improved to open up wider job opportunities while supporting sustainable regional development,” Iwan stated.
Team Leader for K3L at PLN ULP Batulicin, Wahyu Cahaya Purnomo Sidik, said that understanding electrical risks and applying safety principles are the main foundations for every worker in the electricity sector.
“Participants received education regarding the boundaries of responsibility between PLN and customers so they understand the scope of installation work according to applicable standards, enabling them to provide the best service,” he said.
Meanwhile, Manager of PLN ULP Batulicin, Azmi Muharom, also introduced digital services through the PLN Mobile application, which provides various electricity service features, from new connections, power changes, token purchases, and bill payments to real-time fault reporting.
BLK South Kalimantan Province Instructor Dwi Cahyo appreciated the collaboration established between PLN and training institutions for providing insights aligned with the needs of the working world.
