Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP) recorded an emission reduction of 4.1 tonnes CO2e, or 2.5 kg CO2e per employee, through the Clean Energy Day (CED) 2026 programme. Bernadus Sudarmanta, Chief Executive Officer of PLN Indonesia Power, in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, said the CED 2026 programme was actively attended by 2,214 employees. ‘Electrifying lifestyle at the workplace was implemented on 17 April, 24 April, and 8 May 2026 through various low-emission concrete actions, such as using public transport, electric vehicles, walking, and cycling to work,’ he explained. In addition to the positive environmental impact, the programme also yielded energy cost efficiency of Rp205 million and saving 16,699 litres of fuel. ‘Clean Energy Day is not just a campaign; it is part of the company’s cultural transformation towards a more sustainable lifestyle,’ he said. He added PLN IP continues to push energy transition not only through developing cleaner power plants but also through changes in daily behaviour that have a direct impact on the environment. Meanwhile, Director of Human Capital Management & Administration at PLN Indonesia Power, Ridho Hutomo, stressed that CED also serves as a means to strengthen a healthy, adaptive, and environmentally sustainable corporate culture. ‘Activities such as using public transport, electric vehicles, or cycling to the office not only help reduce emissions but also create a healthier, more comfortable, and productive commuting experience for employees,’ he said. Ridho added the high enthusiasm of employees in the programme reflects growing awareness among company personnel of the importance of a low-emission lifestyle as part of the company’s support for the national energy transition agenda. ‘PLN Indonesia Power will continue to develop various sustainability programmes based on employee participation to reinforce the implementation of electrifying lifestyle and to support the creation of a clean energy ecosystem in Indonesia,’ he said.
