PLN IP Conducts Greening in the Jatigede Power Plant Area
PLN Indonesia Power (IP) UBP Jatigede conducted greening activities in the power plant area by planting tree seedlings in the UBP Jatigede Power House area, Sumedang Regency, on Tuesday (22/4/2026). The activity, held to mark Earth Day 2026, serves as an effort to strengthen more environmentally friendly energy operations.
The greening was carried out amid increasing attention to sustainability in the electricity sector. The power plant area is considered not only as a centre for energy production but also needs to maintain environmental balance in its surroundings.
The activity involved the Sumedang Regency Environmental and Forestry Office, the Jatigede Sub-District Head, the Jatigede Police Sector Chief, and the Jatigede Military District Commander. This collaboration is deemed important for strengthening environmental management in the power plant’s operational area.
UBP Jatigede Manager Novy Heryanto stated that greening is a step by the company to support clean and sustainable energy practices. According to him, electricity provision must go hand in hand with efforts to maintain environmental quality.
“Through this tree planting, we want to show that small steps can have a big impact on the sustainability of the earth,” said Novy in his statement on Friday (8/5/2026).
He added that green spaces in the power plant area benefit in maintaining air quality and the surrounding ecosystem. In addition, tree planting is also expected to serve as a natural buffer in the power plant’s operational area in the long term.
Strengthening environmental aspects is increasingly important in line with the push for a transition to low-emission energy. Therefore, greening operational areas is said to be one of the steps that electricity companies are beginning to reinforce. The planted tree seedlings will be maintained to grow and provide benefits to the environment around the Jatigede area.
