PLN IP Bali conserves forest through Pesraman Agung programme
PT PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP) Unit Bisnis Pembangkitan (UBP) Bali is conserving forest and empowering communities through the Pesraman Agung programme. PLN IP President Director Bernadus Sudarmanta stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that the programme serves as a conservation-based empowerment model for protected forests, comprehensively integrating environmental, social, cultural, and economic aspects in the Sandan Bamboo Forest area of Tabanan, Bali. “This programme is designed to prove that environmental conservation and improving community welfare can go hand in hand,” he explained. Through collaboration involving 17 stakeholders from government, academia, community, and the private sector, the programme has successfully delivered tangible impacts for forest guardian communities in the area. One of the programme’s key achievements is the realisation of equitable water access. A total of 55 households now enjoy clean water access, while 86 agricultural plots covering 74 hectares have received adequate irrigation. Technological innovations such as a hybrid water pump system and hydrant pumps form the backbone of the sustainable water management system, providing concrete solutions for communities that previously faced limited access.
