This represents our first project in Bangladesh, and we have high hopes that it will run smoothly. We affirm this cooperation as a strategic step for the company to strengthen its position in the global market.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT PLN Indonesia Power is targeting a solar power plant (PLTS) project with a capacity of 495 MW in Bangladesh as part of efforts to bolster its role in the global energy transition.

The opportunity for developing new renewable energy on the international stage was pursued through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bay Group, a leading Bangladeshi conglomerate.

PLN Indonesia Power’s President Director, Bernadus Sudarmanta, stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that this cooperation is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its role in the global market, particularly in the development of new renewable energy.

“This is our first project in Bangladesh, and we greatly hope that this project will run well. We emphasise this cooperation as a strategic step for the company to strengthen its position in the global market,” he said.

Through this collaboration, PLN Indonesia Power has the opportunity to participate in the tender process while expanding its business portfolio in the clean energy sector.

In the cooperation, Bay Group designated its subsidiary, Copenhagen Urban Solar Parks BD LTD (CUSP), a Denmark-Bangladesh affiliate company focused on solar energy development.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Bernadus Sudarmanta and Ziaur Rahman, Managing Director of Bay Group and Chairman of CUSP.

Ziaur Rahman stated that this cooperation serves as an initial step in strategic collaboration for renewable energy development in Bangladesh.

“We view PLN Indonesia Power as a partner with strong experience and capabilities in the power generation sector. This cooperation is expected to support the sustainable development of solar energy in Bangladesh,” he said.
