PLN imposes SEA Games stickers
PLN imposes SEA Games stickers
From Sinar Pagi
One day in September, I was in the neighborhood of Jl. Gama
Setia Raya close to Depok. At a counter that receives payments
for state-owned electricity company PLN, I heard an elderly man
repeatedly asking the attendant to return his money because he
did not want to buy another sticker for the SEA Games since he
had already bought one some months ago.
The attendant remained adamant in saying that his superior had
ordered that all electricity subscribers who used 900 VA and up
were obliged to pay for a sticker with their monthly bill. He
then referred the client to a PLN office in Depok. The elderly
man consented and added that it would soon be shown which party
was in the right.
Sympathy from the people waiting in line went to the elderly
man, and they berated the attendant.
Close to the counter, there was a copy of a decision by the
minister of social affairs which stated that "There is no
obligation to buy SEA Games stickers".
I asked for the address of the elderly man and contacted him
after five days to hear about the result of his visit to the PLN
office in Depok. This office confirmed that the purchase of
tickets was only voluntary and that they would give a reminder to
the impudent employee.
